Haymaker is proud to announce our first ever Green event – the Fall Classic! Did you know that Haymaker was the first golf course in Colorado to achieve Audubon International Signature Certification? Greening our events is just one of the many initiatives we are implementing as we continue our mission to be more sustainable for future generations. Realizing we are not perfect, below are some of the components we have incorporated into the Fall Classic that reduce our environmental footprint:
Going Paperless: marketing and registration materials for the event are all on-line, reducing the amount of paper utilized for these purposes by 100%. Also prizes are awarded via electronic gift certificates.
Reuse of Natural Resources: scorecards and score boards are printed on recycled paper stock.
Plastic Water Bottles: We recycle all plastic bottles, however, we are also trying to reduce their use altogether by distributing free reusable water bottles to participants. These can be refilled during play at ice water coolers available throughout the course.
Recycling: Both the Staxx Restaurant and the golf course recycle glass, plastics 1-7, newsprint and paper, tin, cardboard and paperboard. Please look for recycling receptacles on the course (holes 5 and 15) or hold your recyclables for pickup when you return your cart.
Sustainable Menu Items: Staxx Restaurant is committed to sustainability and has included a number of locally grown and produced items on their menu including fair trade coffee, locally grown produce and regionally produced meats. Staxx and the beverage cart also use recyclable cups, reusable dinnerware, and green cleaners.
We hope you will join us in our green efforts by:
- respecting environmentally sensitive habitat areas on the course
- know about and follow cart rules
- repair ball marks and divots to keep turf healthy
- support golf course environmental initiatives
- recycle your cans, glass & plastic bottles & always pick up litter
- carpool or ride the shuttle to golf
- share the sustainability message with others.
